SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The driver of a moped was killed in a crash involving an SUV Saturday evening in Sumter County.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred at about 5:25 p.m. Saturday on Ramsey Rd.
Troopers say the driver of a moped was headed north on Ramsey Rd. when he drifted into the southbound lane and into the path of an SUV. When he swerved to avoid the SUV, he was thrown from the moped into the rear of the vehicle.
Sumter County Coroner Harvin Bullock identified the man as Kevin Evans of Barkley Rd.
Troopers say Evans was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.
A passenger on the moped was not wearing a helmet and was taken to the hospital.
