RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - The man who crashed into a Columbia fire truck sending four firefighters to an area hospital Saturday night has been charged with DUI.
Authorities say Robert Erwin, 49, of Columbia has also been charged with driving under suspension.
A spokesperson with the Columbia Fire Department says the truck was at a stop sign at the intersection of Beltline and Two Notch Rd. when Erwin's car collided with it around 11 p.m. Saturday.
Erwin was trapped inside and had to be removed from the vehicle. Four firefighters along with Erwin were taken to area hospitals. The firefighters had minor injuries and were treated and released.
Erwin's injuries were not immediately known.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
