SUMTER, SC (WIS) - Sumter Police have arrested two people in connection with a deadly shooting last weekend.
Police arrested 32-year-old Gary Dargan and his girlfriend, 30-year-old Shonta Helton, both of Porter St. in Sumter. Dargan is charged with murder and Helton is charged with accessory before the fact of murder.
Police say officers found 33-year-old Mario Carrbarus Scott of Sumter at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Dingle and Wright Streets. Investigators say Scott had been shot in the chest and back and died at the scene.
Police say Scott had been involved in an argument with Helton earlier Saturday evening. Helton told Dargan about the argument, who police say followed Scott and shot him as he walked on Dingle St.
Helton was arrested just before 7 p.m. Monday. Police caught up with Dargan about 24 hours later.
Dargan and Helton are held at the Sumter Lee Regional Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
