RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) - Traffic is back to normal following problems caused by an overturned tractor-trailer on Interstate 26 northwest of Columbia on Thursday.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a tractor-trailer collided with a dump truck near the 99 mile marker around 3:30 p.m. Both vehicles ended up on the side of the road north of the Broad River Road exit, but paint spilled all over the roadway.

One westbound lane was blocked for most of the afternoon and evening while crews cleaned up the mess. A frontage road near the interstate was also closed during cleanup.

The resulting traffic backup caused slow commutes for thousands of drivers.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital.

It is unclear if any charges have been filed.
