Families Helping Families: Meet a family who could use your help

The Williams family The Williams family
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The Williams family doesn't need any help finding reasons to smile.

"I always tell my kids attitude is everything," said Christie Williams.

This will be the third year Williams and her children have benefited from Families Helping Families.

After losing her husband a few years ago, she's been raising the energetic family on her own.

"It really came down to daycare or groceries," she said. "It's really hard raising four kids on your own."

Families Helping Families helped fill in the holes during the holidays.

Williams had hoped to adopt a family herself this year after graduating with honors from USC last year.  But she's still searching for a job.

"We're at a place now where we're almost there, almost there," she said. "The kids have done everything they can, they're great."

And they're appreciative of whoever decides to pick up the phone and make their Christmas a little brighter.

"It makes me feel really good, it makes the holidays less stressful," said Williams. "My husband's birthday was December 28th, so it's always been a rough time of year. And for people to reach out and say you and your kids won't go hungry or go without, it means a lot."
