The Alabama football team remained indoors as it continued preparations for No. 3 ranked Georgia in a game that will decide the Southeastern Conference champion. The Crimson Tide practiced for two hours in full pads in the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility.
"The players have created a great opportunity for themselves," said Alabama head coach Nick Saban. "This is a great venue being the SEC Championship game against obviously one of the best teams in the country in Georgia. Our players have worked hard this week. We've had some weather issues, but we also just assume practice inside to get acclimated to the turf as well as the conditions we will end up playing in. The big challenge here is for the players to be who you are and not surrender to any of the hype around the game."
Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron was named one of 10 finalists for the Manning Award, which goes annually to the nation's top quarterback. The junior is second in the nation in passing efficiency and has thrown for 2,507 yards with a single season school record 25 touchdowns.
Saturday's SEC Championship Game will be televised nationally on CBS, with coverage starting at 3 p.m. (CST). Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson will call the game and Tracy Wolfson will join them, reporting for the sidelines.
