LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

A Lexington County woman says holiday thieves are on the prowl.

She put up her Christmas decorations one night and the next day, she says her holiday display, was gone.

The decorations at Pickens Whitfield's house went up as soon as the turkey dinner was done.

She's a self-described Christmas fanatic who spent the weekend decorating her house.

"All Saturday was literally spent in my yard hanging wreaths and garland," said Pickens.

But when she turned out the lights for the night two people decided they wanted her decorations for themselves. The thieves got away with several of her decorations which included two reindeers.

"They tried to get a toy soldier, but I had them zip tied to my railing so they couldn't get him they attempted to get other deer and my twirly Christmas tree, but they couldn't get them because I had them nailed to the ground," Pickens added.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department says the same thing happened to a house that night less than a mile down the road on Emory Lane.

"People work hard for the stuff they have and people should not be taking other people's items," said Pickens. "They obviously don't know the meaning of Christmas to come up and somebody's yard and take their stuff."
