Perspective: A WIS editorial - Families Helping Families

It's that time of year once again when  WIS and the Palmetto Project partner for Families Helping Families. This year marks our 22nd anniversary and Families Helping Families was recently recognized by the South Carolina Broadcast Association as 2012 Service Project of the year.

Each year Palmetto Project identifies needy families throughout the Midlands who might otherwise not enjoy a very merry Christmas.  These families are then anonymously adopted by folks just like you who experience the real meaning of Christmas by providing gifts for each member of that adopted family.  The gifts are collected by Palmetto Project and distributed just in time for Christmas.  Last year, Families Helping Families met the needs of over 2300 Midlands families, and this year our goal is 2500 families.

You can experience the true gift of giving by calling one of our volunteers at 803-758-1020 or logging onto to adopt a family. The WIS phone banks are open from 5am to 7:30pm. Make a gift you will always cherish and help provide a memorable Christmas to those less fortunate right here in the Midlands.  WIS and Palmetto Project thank you for participating in Families Helping Families.
