CONOVER, NC (WBTV) -

Conover Police were called out to a home on 5th St Place NE Sunday for a welfare check.

While officers were there investigating, they said they found a meth lab inside the home.

Neighbors describe the Lecho Park neighborhood as family-friendly, and said things like this just don't happen there.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NC SBI) is helping with the investigation. The agency, along with Conover Police are still trying to figure out if anyone else was involved in the operation.

Investigators remained at the house until about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Carl Pottschmidt III, 42, was arrested and is in jail under a $40,000 bond.
