VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -
Valdosta State has made it back to the NCAA division two playoffs this season.
One player who has had a big role for the Blazer offense this year is receiver Gerald Ford.
The Blazers certainly missed the talented receiver last year when a knee injury kept Gerald Ford on the sidelines.
Ford worked hard in the offseason to make sure the year away would not hurt him when he did get back on the field.
The hard work paid off.
Ford was named the Gulf South Conference's offensive player of the year and was nominated for the Harlon Hill Trophy.
Ford is happy to be playing football but wants one more thing in order to be satisfied with his comeback season.
"It won't be fully complete and I want be fully complete until we win the championship. It is our main goal. I am just trying to keep this team oriented because that is what it is about. That is what it is going to take for us to win a championship", said Gerald Ford.
VSU hosts West Alabama at 12:00 p.m. Saturday in the second round of the NCAA DII playoffs.
