There's an excitement in the air that comes around Alabama every Thanksgiving week. It's the excitement of the treasured Iron Bowl rivalry game between the Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers.
Chizik said Tuesday that the team is in the thick of preparations for the Saturday match and they don't "take it lightly" not just in terms of winning but in the importance the game holds for fans and former players.
"It's a very important week for so many people in this state…that are both Auburn and Alabama fans," Chizik said. "There is a difference in this game than most [rivalries] and the importance it has."
He said it's a privilege for him to be a part of what will be his seventh Iron Bowl. Of course, the flavor of Auburn's season still hung over Tuesday's press conference.
"For us to be able to have a chance to be successful we have to play the best game we've played all year and be very sound in everything we do," Chizik said. "Our work is cut out for us."
The Iron Bowl will begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
