KERSHAW COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

A 45-year-old man was recently arrested after investigators say he defrauded a convenience store of more than $3,000, according to the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office.

Keith Jerome Mobley was arrested on four warrants charging him with fraud after officials say he cashed four corporate checks by using false authorization numbers at a Pilot gas station on Highway 601 and Interstate 20.

Investigators say the checks use special authorization numbers that allow a business to confirm that the check's authenticity.

Deputies believe Mobley used this technique to defraud the store of $3,400.

Authorities say Mobley has a 13-page criminal history and he has defrauded other convenience stores using the same tactics as far away as Ohio. He is currently under investigation in numerous other jurisdictions.

Mobley is currently being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center on a $12,000 bond.
