COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

It's a sure sign the holiday season is here. The official state Christmas tree has arrived to the State House grounds.

The 36-foot Grand Fir is from Maple Hill Farms in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. A crew from Timbertec in Greer, S.C. drove to and from Pennsylvania to deliver and install the tree near the intersection of Main Street and Gervais Street.

The tree, which is six feet taller than the 2011 tree, was donated to the citizens of the state by the Columbia Garden club and the Garden Club of South Carolina,

Crews will trim the tree with 10,000 LED lights.

They have an extra week to get it ready. The Governor's Carolighting ceremony is usually the Monday after Thanksgiving, but this year it will be Monday, December 3rd.
