HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - Three days after a brick was thrown at a police patrol car, one Hartsville man has turned himself in for the crime.

According to Hartsville Police, 21-year-old Lerondi Bernard Ceaser turned himself in to authorities on Friday, Nov. 16 and is charged with attempted murder and malicious injury to property.

Those charges stem from an incident on Tuesday, Nov. 13, when a "projectile brick" was thrown at a police car on the 200 block of Marion Avenue.

An officer inside the car had rolled down his window while on patrol to listen to his surroundings, and heard the loud thump of the brick against his driver's side door.

An investigation led police to seek an arrest warrant against Ceaser

"The amount of force behind the brick made this a serious attack, which could have caused death or very serious bodily injury," Police Chief James Hudson said. "Thanks to the work of our investigators, the suspect was identified quickly."
