JOHNS ISLAND, SC (WCSC) -

A South Carolina Department of Natural Resources colonel charged with criminal domestic violence was granted a $2,500 bond Monday.

Colonel Alexander Chisolm Frampton was arrested Sunday after Charleston County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to his home on Royal Oak Drive on Johns Island.

According to an incident report, Frampton's wife told deputies Frampton had gone "into a rage" over her spending habits.

She said Frampton smashed a "Good Samaritan Box" she was preparing to needy children. She also said he took a broom, broke the handle over his knee, and told her he wanted to beat her.

The victim said Frampton then followed her around the residence, "yelling and swearing at her in front of their son."

Finally, the victim said Frampton trapped her in the bathroom, kicked her in the rear, knocking her to the floor of a closet. At that point, she ran to a neighbor's home and called 911.

Authorities arrested Frampton for criminal domestic violence and took him to the Charleston County Detention Center.
