ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Albany State is ready to open their season Saturday night at Georgia Southwestern. Head coach Chris Cameron and his team are looking forward to get the season started.
The Rams return their top two scorers from last year and defensive specialist Andrew Covin.
The former Dougherty star has been named a team captain.
The Rams have added plenty of talent with transfers Jerome Hamilton from Worth County, Bainbridge's James Lodman and true freshman point guard Trey Gosier from Thomasville.
"Coach has set high standards this year for us. He says we have got to have confidence or we are playing for nothing really. The motto is like ring or die. a lot of guys are excited and we are ready to be competitive", said senior guard Andrew Covin.
"We have got a real good group of guys that works hard. We are real close. They are very attentive. They are learning. They are paying attention to detail. Things that we want. These are all good signs of having a good team", said head coach Chris Cameron.
Albany State tips at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Georgia Southwestern.
