TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -
Alabama head coach Nick Saban says that his players still have good reason to play hard the rest of the season after Alabama's loss to Texas A&M on Saturday.
In his post game conference, Saban discussed how the Aggies should be congratulated on the way they played.
"They played a tremendous game and the certainly outplayed us today," said Saban.
The coach expressed that the Aggies have too tough of an offense for the defense to give up 20 points in the first quarter.
"We dug a ditch we couldn't get out of," said Saban about the first quarter.
Coach Saban felt that there were too many missed assignments and undisciplined mistakes. It's something he feels falls on his shoulders.
"That starts with me. I take full responsibility for not having our team more ready to do the things that they needed to do to be more successful in this game," said the coach.
Despite the loss, Saban says the players still have good goals to focus on. He cited that two of the three National Championship teams he has coached have had one loss. The Tide still has two games remaining in the regular season and has to win against Auburn to clench the SEC West. If they win, they will go on to play for the SEC title and could still have a shot at the big game.
"I was really concerned about this week; we seemed out of gas this week..."said Saban. "Hopefully, we'll have a chance to finish with some significance."
