MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -

Officials with the Charleston County Coroner's Office say after a series of exhaustive tests, the cause of death remains undetermined for a 30-year-old Mixed Martial Arts fighter who died in a Charleston hospital after collapsing at the end of a bout in August.

Charleston County Coroner Rae Wooten said tests on Tyrone "Teesta" Mims found no injury to organs and no sign of concussion on the brain.

The Augusta native was 30 years old when he collapsed at the end of an Aug. 11 bout with local fighter Blake Poore during "Fight Night at the Point VI" at the Omar Shrine Temple in Mt. Pleasant.

An employee with Reflecting Pool Productions, the company which promoted the "Georgia Boys Grits N Glory" of which Mims was a part of, said Mims came out in the first round "like a beast," but something happened to him in the second round and he went limp and stopped defending himself.

The employee said Mims then got up, told emergency officials, who responded to the event around 8:35 p.m., he was fine and walked off the stage. Then, his condition deteriorated. The employee said Mims kept fading in and out of consciousness as emergency crews worked to revive him.

Mims died a short time later at Medical University of South Carolina. He leaves behind five children. The employee also said Mims' mother and fiancee were at the fight, and everyone expected it to be an "easy bout."

The death is still under investigation by the South Carolina Athletic Commission.
