RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says two men were killed when they were hit by a car while fighting in a busy Richland County street early Saturday morning.

Investigators say the men were fighting in the 7300 block of Two Notch Rd. at about 4 a.m. Saturday when they were hit by a car.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts identified the men as 33-year-old Otis Starks of Columbia and 35-year-old Corey Trapp of Blythewood.  Watts said the two were involved in a physical altercation in the street when they were run over.

Watts said both men died at the scene.

Starks was a technical sergeant assigned to Shaw Air Force Base.

"The death of Tech. Sgt. Starks over the weekend is a tragic loss to the 20th Force Support Squadron, 20th Fighter Wing and the Air Force," said Col. Lance Kildron, 20th Fighter Wing vice commander.  Our priority is to support his wife, children, family, friends and co-workers through this difficult time."

Starks is survived by his wife and two children.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate.  The driver of the car has not been charged.
