Meth lab discovery forces closure of Newberry street

NEWBERRY, SC (WIS) -

The Newberry Police Department, Newberry County Sheriff's Office and State Law Enforcement Division executed a search warrant at a residence on Floyd Street in the city of Newberry this morning and have discovered a working meth lab.

In addition to law enforcement officials from Fire, EMS, and HAZ-MAT are on scene beginning a clean-up of the lab.

Officers have closed Floyd Street between Charles Street and Crosson Street while the clean-up takes place and citizens are advised to stay out of the area until Hazardous Materials professionals can complete their work safely mitigating this illegal operation.

Three suspects are in custody at this time and more information including their identities will be released as the investigation unfolds, investigators said.

Authorities ask that citizens stay away from the area until further notice.
