Four people have been arrested for holding a mother and her child captive for years in Ashland.
According to the charges, the suspects used beatings, threats of death and threats of attacks from pit bulls and large snakes to hold a woman and her child against their will for two years.More >>
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -
The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified the man found dead in North Charleston Wednesday night, and they say he was shot.
The coroner's office identified the victim as 51-year-old Wallace Hazelton. When asked about any evidence of foul play, an official at the coroner's office told us "somebody did it to him."
Hazelton's body was found on the side of Gaynor Avenue Wednesday night.
North Charleston police spokesman Spencer Pryor said officers received a call just after 9 p.m. saying an unresponsive man was lying on the ground.
When officers arrived, they found Hazelton.
Officers had Gaynor Avenue blocked off with police tape just before midnight. Forensic teams are searched for evidence on the sidewalk and street in between a row of houses and the train tracks connected to the nearby Amtrak station.
North Charleston police officers swept nearby fields and connecting streets with flashlights.
On Thursday, Pryor said detectives have no leads or motive for the crime and are looking for help from anyone who may have witnessed anything while in the area Wednesday.
