Federal, state agents make arrest in Lancaster fake document case

LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) -

A man was arrested Tuesday for his involvement in the sale of fake identification documents, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.

A spokesman with the S.C. Department of Public Safety said immigration enforcement agents served an arrest warrant at a home on the 1500 block of Lynwood Drive.

The incident began when a woman was arrested after presenting fake documents at the Lancaster DMV. The DPS took over the investigation led to the house on Lynwood Drive, investigators told WBTV.

Prudencio Sorcia Cervantes, 36, was arrested and charged with the sale of fraudulent identification documents. He was taken to the Lancaster County Detention Center.

The Immigration Enforcement Unit is continuing the investigation, and WBTV is told that more charges are expected in the case.
