NEWBERRY COUNTY, SC (WYFF) - Newberry County Sheriff's deputies have three carjacking suspects in custody after a search overnight.

The search began late Saturday night after a trooper approached a disabled vehicle around the 73 mile marker on Interstate 26. Three men dressed in dark clothing ran from the vehicle and into the woods as the trooper approached, officials said.

It was later determined that the vehicle had been taken during a carjacking in Greenville County, according to the Newberry County Sheriff's Office.

SLED bloodhounds and a helicopter were called to the scene to search the wooded area around Mt. Bethel Garmany Road near SC Highway 34.

One suspect was caught during the night near the Fox Run Community, deputies said.

At about 5:45 a.m. Sunday, a resident of the Fox Run Community spotted the remaining two suspects and called 911.

Troopers, SLED agents, and deputies surrounded  the area and continued to search.

At about 7 a.m., the remaining two suspects were taken into custody.
