$33,000 worth of marijuana seized in traffic stop

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

A traffic stop by a Columbia Police officer yielded more than $30,000 worth of marijuana plants and the arrest of the driver.

Police officers arrested 36-year-old Glenn W. Dickson and charged him with manufacturing marijuana and possession with intent to distribute.

CPD officers stopped Dickson at the 1000 block of Airport Boulevard shortly before 4:00 p.m. on Oct. 16. after smelling a strong stench of marijuana coming from his car.

Authorities say after Dickson got out of his car, the officer noticed a leafy substance that appeared to be marijuana inside of a white envelope.

Officers searched the car and found 11 marijuana plants with a street value of $33,000 in the trunk and the back seat.

Investigators seized the plants, and Dickson was sent and booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
