Experience in political or related positions:

I served on the Lexington Richland School District 5 school board from 1996-2002 and decided to run again for the school board in 2008, so 2008-present. I have served as the vice chair of the board for the past two years.

Why should voters choose you in this election?

I have a proven record of supporting and advocating for public education and our district's schools. We have not completed our building program from the 2008 school bond referendum.  Of the four candidates running for school board seats in the Lexington portion of our school district, only Jondy Loveless and I supported the bond referendum. The other two candidates in this race didn't support the bond referendum and the other incumbent has voted to delay construction on our new magnet high school, as well as delays for several of our building projects. To ensure the completion of our building program, voters will be safe in voting for Jondy Loveless and me.

Additionally, Ms. Loveless and I have publicly announced our opposition to vouchers and tax credits, which would divert limited public money from public schools. In school board forums, our two opponents have voiced their support for vouchers. I haven proven that I will stand up to those who wish to stop progress for our school district. I believe that excellent schools support stable neighborhoods which in turn support successful businesses.
