Tony Scully

Non-partisan candidate for Camden Mayor.


Occupation: Retired. Active Community Volunteer

Education: Growing up in Washington, D.C., Tony graduated from Gonzaga College High School (just four blocks away from the nation's capitol). He went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his masters from Yale University.

Experience in Political or Related Positions: I have never run before for political office. I am, however, very active in my community serving as the chairman of the "Let's Move Cities and Towns" initiative for Camden and Kershaw County. I serve on the board of Camden's Upton Trio, Historic Camden and Columbia Childrens Theatre, as well as volunteer my time and energies for a number of other non-profit groups and causes in the Midlands.

Why should voters choose you in this election?

Voters should choose me in this election because I will bring leadership to the Mayor's office that values everyone's voice. I will work tirelessly to: (1) stimulate new jobs and create new economic opportunities for the City of Camden; (2) make city government more transparent and accountable to the residents of Camden; (3) build new partnerships with county and state government to address the needs and problems in the City of Camden; (4) manage tax dollars efficiently and make sure our makes wise investments when it comes to decisions involving the spending of revenue; and (5)work with our police officers and firefighters so they have the tools they need to keep our city, safe and strong.
