Scott Cain

Republican candidate for Newberry County Council District 1.

Occupation: Colonel (Ret) South Carolina Air National Guard

Education: B.S. business administration, The Citadel

Experience in Political or Related Positions:

As a 34-year South Carolina Air National Guard veteran, I bring the proven leadership and experience that will be the critical factors for effectively promoting both cultural and economic development in the town of Whitmire and Newberry County. I bring the ethic of hard work and dedication to the land, gained by growing up on a dairy farm in rural Sumter County. Coupled with the discipline and academic background found only at The Citadel, as well as a lifelong passion of serving our community and county in our local National Guard, I also possess a true appreciation for our community and the ability to lead the town of Whitmire and our Newberry County into the future.

I have lead in combat and in the development of an international coalition of combat forces, and so I bring a unique combination of experiences and achievements that prove that with strong, honest leadership, hard work and dedication, and a clear, shared vision for our future I can provide the leadership to build a team that will showcase and market our distinguished heritage, open culture, and abundant resources while fostering a growing and progressive town of Whitmire and Newberry County.

Why should voters choose you in this election?

The County Council position is the most important position our community has that can effectively manage our local assets and promote a healthy and sustainable quality of life for the citizens and businesses in Newberry County. With economic development our number one priority on County Council, I have the leadership, experience and dedication to effectively promote business development in the town of Whitmire and Newberry County. By far, our greatest assets are our people and our community's charm and culture. To sustain these assets, we need to keep our young adults in our community and attract new families to enjoy our natural and cultural beauty. Through the sound fiscal responsibility and the progressive leadership I can provide, we can lead the way in economic and community development in our state and region. Please join me, Scott Cain, in November, for a vote for our Future. Together we can make it happen.
