Why should voters choose you in this election? My principles reflect those of the overwhelming majority of folks in the 5th Congressional district: a belief in limited government, personal responsibility, and individual freedom.  I support (and voted for) a balanced budget amendment to the United States Constitution; I support term limits; I believe that the private sector -- and not the government --- creates jobs.

My work on the Budget Committee, the Joint Economic Committee, and the Small Business Committee has put those beliefs into action. I co-authored the widely acclaimed Cut, Cap, and Balance initiative, worked closely with Paul Ryan on two of the most fiscally responsible budgets in years, and helped keep government off the backs of our small businesses. I even worked with my colleagues across the aisle whenever we were able to find common ground.

Just as importantly, even folks who do not share those principles have told me time and again over the last two years that they respected the fact that I have voted exactly as I told people I would when I ran for office.

I'd like to continue doing all of those things next year.
