Why should voters choose you in this election?
I have a proven record of accomplishments that often required working cooperatively and collaboratively with council colleagues in a bi-partisan fashion. These accomplishments include those related specifically to District 8, as well as county wide initiatives. I have demonstrated leadership to ignite the revitalization efforts along Decker Boulevard, including the county's purchase of the old Decker Mall to create a law and order complex. I championed the effort to adjust salaries for sheriff deputies, as well as the attorneys in the solicitor and public defender's offices to address the problem of them leaving Richland County to go to neighboring counties for higher wages. I took a leadership role resulting in firefighters being able to drive ambulances, the county establishing an economic development department and hiring a sustainability director. Finally, I was able to work with the council to avoid taxes increases, maintain services, balance budgets and increase reserve funds during the worst economic downturn since the great depression.
