Funeral services for a South Carolina high school football player who collapsed during a game Friday night and later died will take place inside his school's gymnasium later this week.

18-year-old Ronald Rouse will be remembered in a public service at Hartsville High School at 703 Lewelyn Ave. on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The senior defensive lineman collapsed in the second quarter during the Red Foxes' game against Crestwood. He passed away a short time later.

He died due to a sudden irregular heartbeat brought on because he was born with an enlarged heart, according to Darlington County Coroner J. Todd Hardee.
