Third suspect arrested in Mt. Pleasant couple's murder

PHILIPSBURG, ST. MAARTEN (WCSC) -

Prosecutors in St. Maarten say investigators have arrested a third suspect in connection to the murders of a Mount Pleasant couple.

Authorities say a 20-year-old man was arrested in St. Thomas by law enforcement officers on Thursday.

Police say the third suspect, identified in a press release by the initials J.J.W., was involved in the deaths of Michael and Thelma King of Mount Pleasant and a robbery two days earlier in St. Maarten.

A press release states that the suspect was extradited to Saint Maarten on Friday.

The news follows on the heels of Thursday's announcement that a judge has extended pre-trial detention for 17-year-old Jeremiah Mills, who is also accused to be involved in the murders. It's also being reported that Mills was recently released from prison for armed robbery.

On Wednesday, 28-year-old Meyshane Johnson also admitted to playing a role in the murders.

According to prosecutors, Johnson also admitted to taking part in the robbery of a restaurant the same week the couple was found dead.

The Kings were found stabbed to death in their Caribbean island home on Sept. 21.
