LEXINGTON, KY (WIS) – University of South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw has a streak to extend when the Gamecocks take on SEC opponent Kentucky Saturday night in Lexington.
Last week against Missouri, Shaw completed 20 straight passes to set a school record and tie for second in the SEC milestone. Although he failed to connect on his first pass of the game, Shaw completed 20 of 21 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns in the Gamecocks 31-10 win over the Tigers at Williams-Brice Stadium.
Shaw's 20 straight passes ties him with Kent Austin of Ole Miss for second-most straight completions in the SEC. Austin completed 20 consecutive passes against Kentucky in 1982.
The last time USC faced Kentucky, the Gamecocks earned 639 yards of offense. Shaw completed 26 of 39 passes and threw for a career-high 311 yards and four touchdowns in the 54-3 win for South Carolina.
South Carolina is 4-0 overall, 2-0 in the SEC. Kentucky is 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference. Kickoff from Commonwealth Stadium is at 7 p.m. It will be broadcast in ESPN2.
