ST. MAARTEN (WCSC) -

An autopsy has confirmed the Mt. Pleasant couple found murdered in their St. Maarten condominium last Friday died from stab wounds.

The St. Maarten News has reported autopsies show Mike and Thelma King died from severe blood loss.

According to the newspaper, sources close to the investigation say the suspect, a 28-year-old Jamaican national named Meyshane Johnson, was robbing the couple when he killed them.

The newspaper reports Johnson, who resisted his arrest, will be arraigned on Wednesday.

Johnson's attorney told the St. Maarten Island Time newspaper that her client may also be a suspect in the armed robbery at a Chinese restaurant last Wednesday.

The alleged robbers fled the scene in a vehicle while police fired shots at it.

Johnson has worked for a security company on the island. On Monday, the company's CEO released a statement in the St. Maarten Island Time saying his company does extensive background checks on employees and that Johnson came back clean.

The Kings owned a home in Mt. Pleasant in addition to their Caribbean condo, as well as a business in Columbia.
