SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WYFF) -

A man who deputies have in custody has confessed to being a serial rapist, according to the Spartanburg County sheriff.

Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said Rodney Maurice Davis Jr., 19, of Whispering Oaks Court in Chesnee was arrested at his home Tuesday morning.

Davis is charged with burglary and criminal sexual conduct in connection with an attack at the Newport Apartments on Aug. 17, according to Wright.

Wright said Davis confessed to that assault and two other assault cases in Spartanburg County.

Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller said Davis also confessed to an assault in Cherokee County.

The Cherokee County sheriff's office said they have signed a warrant on Davis for criminal sexual conduct for the Sept. 17 assault.

Davis was transported to the Spartanburg County Detention Center where he was awaiting a bond hearing Tuesday morning.

Assaults that Davis confessed:

Aug. 17: A Spartanburg County woman at Newport Apartments told deputies a man asked to use the bathroom and claimed his car broke down. She told deputies the man forced his way inside and sexually assaulted her.

Sept. 9: A Spartanburg County deputies said the man approached a woman in her car outside of Coin Laundry on Boiling Springs Road. The victim told News 4 that the man knocked on her car door and asked if she was single. She said she told him yes and that she was not interested. When she tried to close her door she said he put a gun to her head. The woman said she knocked the gun away and he took off.

Sept. 17: Cherokee County deputies said on Sept. 17 at 6:30 p.m. a man raped a woman off U.S. 29 on Seminole Trail near Cowpens. The woman told deputies the man came to her home and asked to use the phone. He then used a handgun to force his way inside, where he sexually assaulted her, Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller said.

Sept. 20: Another attack happened on Thursday night at the Bangkok Bar and Grill on Boiling Springs Road. A woman told deputies she was at a bachelorette party when she went outside to take a phone call about 10:30 p.m. While she was outside, she said, a man pulled into the parking lot, got out of a car and opened the trunk. She said he then walked up behind her and put his hand over the woman's mouth, telling her to be quiet. The woman said she began to scream, so the man pushed her on the ground. As she fought back, people came out of the bar and scared the man away. The incident report said the responding deputy observed scrapes and bleeding on the woman's elbow.
