CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Meeyung Park, the mother of the 2-year-old boy who was thrown from his car seat Friday afternoon, appeared in court Monday. She is being held on bond of $38,500.

Park was already charged with charged with Driving While Impaired, No Operators License, Reckless Driving, Failure to Reduce Speed, Child Restraint Violation, and 2 counts of Felony Serious Injury by Vehicle. An third Serious Injury by Vehicle was added to her charges Monday.

Park is expected back in court October 3rd for a bond hearing, and October 12 for a probable cause hearing.

This all stems from a crash along the 5100 block of South Tryon Street, between Tyvola and Yorkmont roads, at about 3:37 p.m. Friday.

CMPD Investigators say Park was driving inbound on South Tryon Street in southwest Charlotte when she sideswiped a Chrysler Concorde, and then rear-ended a stopped CATS bus. The Chrysler hit the median. The impact of the crash threw Park's child, Anthony Lucente, from his car seat.

A woman who lives near the scene told WBTV she heard a loud noise, and when she went outside to check, she saw the child in the road.

The toddler was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to be OK. Over the weekend, Carolinas Medical Center confirmed Lucente was in good condition. His grandmother was also in the car, and was taken to the hospital. There is no word on her condition. Park was taken to the hospital as well.

There were seven passengers on the CATS bus. One was taken to the hospital. The drivers of the bus and the other vehicle were not hurt.

Investigators say Park was speeding and impaired by prescription drugs when the crash occurred. Officers told WBTV Park admitted to taking prescription drugs prior to the crash.

At 6:15pm Friday, tow trucks removed the bus and car from the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the child was not properly restrained in the child seat. Investigators are still working on this case.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective R.C. Gormican at 704-432-2169.
