CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Police are searching for clues after a man's body was found floating in a pond in the Conway area Thursday afternoon.

Sgt. Robert Kegler, spokesman for the Horry County Police Department, confirms the body was discovered in a pond off Oak Log Lake Road, just off Highway 905 in Conway around 1 p.m. Thursday.

Darris Fowler, Deputy Coroner for Horry County, tells WMBF News the victim has been identified as 44-year-old Lester Causey Jr. An autopsy to determine cause of death has been scheduled for Friday morning.

According to the Coroner Fowler, the pond where Causey's body was found in located on his family's property, but its still unclear if he lived nearby.

The Violent Crime Unit of HCPD responded to the scene to assist in the investigation, and though the cause of death is unknown, right now the case is being treated as a "suspicious unattended death."

Kegler assures that investigators found no outward signs to indicate foul play, but more information would not be revealed until after the autopsy is completed.
