Traffic on Interstate 26 northwest of Columbia is once again moving after an afternoon crash sent eight people to the hospital.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a Ford Crown Victoria lost control as it was traveling westbound and crashed through the cable barrier in the median and slammed into two other vehicles.

The crash happened near the Peak exit around 3 p.m.

Eight people were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The eastbound lanes were closed for a short time. Traffic in both directions was moving very slowly for almost an hour while crews worked to clean up the wrecked vehicles.

No charges have been filed.

The Highway Patrol is investigating.
