MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) -

Court documents state a man admitted to fatally stabbing his sleeping father with a sword in a Mt. Pleasant motel room early Monday.

According to an affidavit, 22-year-old Elias James Walker confessed to cutting his father, 45-year-old Anthony Walker, with a sword around 1 a.m. at the Fort Moultrie Motel located at 1330 Stuart Engals Boulevard.

Anthony Walker was found lying on the floor of Room 21, suffering from chest and neck wounds.  He was taken to Medical University of South Carolina, where he died.

Around 1:29 a.m. on Monday, police responded to the motel in reference to a stabbing and found the victim and the suspect.  EMS transported the victim to MUSC where he succumbed to his injuries.

A police officer told Elias Walker that he was going to pat him down for weapons based on the nature of his father's injuries. Walker then told the officer he understood and was patted down.

Police say a small pocket knife was found on Walker's right front pocket and a cellphone in his left pocket. A police report states that Walker was not wearing shoes and had blood on the front end of his socks and a spot of blood on his shirt.

A police report states that "Elias had an unusually calm demeanor considering how severe his father was injured."

Walker told investigators that he went to buy beer at the gas station and when he returned, he found his father on the floor with a large cut on his head and neck area. A police officer asked Walker if he offered any assistance to his injured father to which Walker replied,"No."

Walker said that his father had the only key to the room and the door was not locked. When investigators asked Walker if his father had any enemies, Walker said,"Yea, everyone in this place hates him."

Walker told officers that he was only gone for about 15 minutes. According to police, Walker said that he and his father have been staying in the room for several months and they usually get along fine.

Police then asked Walker if he had been drinking or was taking any prescriptions since he was so relaxed. Walker told officers that he had six beers.

The Mt. Pleasant Police Department charged Walker with murder.  He was denied bond during a 2 p.m. hearing.
