SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

The woman accused of pointing a gun at Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-SC 4th District, could be released from jail after her bond was set this weekend.

Gloria Brackett, 52 of Atlanta, is being held on a $15,000 bond for charges of unlawful carrying of a pistol and pointing/presenting a firearm.

Investigators said Sept. 9 Brackett approached Gowdy in the parking lot of Spartanburg First Baptist Church.

Police said she accused Gowdy of stalking her then pulled a gun on him. Gowdy was able to drive away safely and Brackett was arrested soon after.

Last week, a judge ordered Brackett to undergo a mental evaluation, delaying her bond hearing until this weekend.

On Sept. 10, Brackett's mother Corrie Brackett told FOX Carolina her daughter had been in town visiting for about a week and took her gun without her knowledge.

She said she thinks her daughter took the gun, to protect herself from a stalker.

Corrie Brackett said her daughter has mental issues and has been dealing with them for some time, but she didn't know if someone has been stalking her daughter or not.
