Lexington deputies have arrested two Columbia men who they caught breaking into a convenience store in Gaston.

Trent Daniels, 30, and Datron Green, 28, were both arrested and charged with second-degree burglary and grand larceny.

Officials say deputies found a hole in the side of a convenience store on Fish Hatchery Road shortly after 3 a.m.

Deputies, who were near the hole, waited for the men to come back outside, but investigators say they tried to escape from the store's attic.

A sledgehammer used to break into the store was later found in the woods.

Daniels and Green are each being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on bail totaling $25,000.
