Large crack in windshield, funnel hose tip deputy off to mobile meth lab

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WIS) -

Deputies with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department on Thursday arrested a Batesburg-Leesville woman after they discovered a mobile methamphetamine laboratory and firearms in her vehicle during a traffic stop, the sheriff said.

Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said that deputies arrested Patty E. Boatwright, 25, after during a traffic stop that occurred on the 200 block of Green Gold Drive.

The deputy initiated the traffic stop when he noticed a large crack in her windshield. The deputy observed a funnel hose extending from the rear-seat compartment while approaching the vehicle and noticed a strong smell of consistent with manufacturing of methamphetamine, Metts said.

During the search of the vehicle, deputies discovered a methamphetamine laboratory operating inside the vehicle as well as two firearms, according to Metts.

Boatwright was charged with manufacturing of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, Metts said.
