Perspective: A WIS Editorial - Hurricane Week

When it comes to Hurricanes, it's not a matter of if, but when.

Next week is considered "peak" hurricane season , and WIS plans to arm our viewers with a wealth of information.

We will cover everything from the anatomy of a storm and how hurricanes form- to what kind of damage can happen on the coast as well as inland, and how crucial it is to be properly  prepared.

Our weather team has extensive experience with hurricane coverage and forecasting.  Ben Tanner has covered hurricanes here in SC for 14 years, Von Gaskin cut her teeth as a meteorologist tracking the record-breaking 2005 season, and John Farley has over 15 years experience forecasting  and tracking these storms.

John will be answering your hurricane questions in two live web chats. Or, you can mention @WIS10 on Twitter and the hashtag: #hurricaneweek. We also want to hear your storm stories. Log on to to share your memories from South Carolina's biggest storms.

It's extensive WIS coverage next week from Sunrise to Nightcast – on-air, online and on mobile - with our First Alert team of weather experts.  So tune in, Midlands.

That's my perspective.
