GREENWOOD COUNTY, SC (WYFF) - A
teen was found alive, partially submerged in a pond, more than 17 hours
after he was shot in the chest and head, according to a report from the
Greenwood County Sheriff's Office.
A
man called 911 at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday to report that he had seen the
teen, whose name is not being released because of his age, lying at the
edge of the pond on Willard Road.
The
incident report said that the teen had a small gunshot wound in the
center of his chest and another behind his left ear. The teen said he
had been shot at about 2 p.m. the day before.
The teen said he had been fishing at the pond with his girlfriend and had permission from the landowner to be there.
A
deputy said he asked the teen who had shot him three times, and each
time the teen answered that it was Marcellus Autry, an eleventh grader
at Greenwood High.
The teen was airlifted to the hospital. There was no immediate word on his condition.
Deputies said there was dried blood where the teen had been laying and a $10 bill and some playing cards.
Autry
was arrested on Sunday. He is charged with attempted murder and
possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Capt.
Ray Watson said that the shooting stemmed from a previous altercation
between the teen and Autry. He said that apparently Autry had
previously been robbed and believed the teen had something to do with
it.
