South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore has been named offensive player of the week.
The Big Spur is reporting the Southeastern Conference gave Lattimore the honor for the first week of the 2012 season.
Playing in his first game since injuring his knee last season, Lattimore rushed for 110 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns in the Gamecocks' 17-13 win over Vanderbilt Thursday. Lattimore also caught three passes for 21 yards.
He surpassed Derek Watson into 13th place in the Gamecocks all-time rushing list with 2,124 yards.
USC hosts East Carolina Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium in their home opener. Kickoff is at 12:21.
