SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - A 28-passenger school bus was involved in
a collision in the Lowcountry Wednesday morning with an 18-wheeler hauling trees.
Summerville police say passengers in the school bus were taken to the
hospital with non-life threatening after a tree pierced through the bus
at 6:45 a.m. at Central Avenue and Parsons Road.
According to officials, the truck was turning west onto Parsons Road and the bus was traveling north on Central Avenue.
When the truck was turning, one of the trees it was hauling punctured
the side of the bus above the driver's side-door and went out the other
side.
Passengers on the Head Start bus, including the driver, assistant and three students, where taken to an area hospital.
The collision is under investigation.
