COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson will be in Washington, D.C. Monday to argue the state's side of the legal challenge to its voter ID law.

A three-judge panel of the US District Court will hear the case of South Carolina v. United States.

The state law requiring South Carolina voters to show photo identification at the polls has been challenged by the federal government, claiming the law discriminates against African-Americans. The law was passed during the 2011 legislative session

Supporters of the law say it will cut down on election fraud.
