Driver killed in Sunday morning crash

GILBERT, SC (WIS) -

A Lexington man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Gilbert.

Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman said 24-year-old Woodruff Duke of Lexington lost control his vehicle on Highway 378 near Peachland Road. Duke's vehicle crossed the center line and crashed into a ditch on the westbound side of the highway.

The crash occurred just before 6 a.m. Sunday.  

Investigators say Duke was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene from trauma to his body and head.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner's Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
