SUMTER COUNTY, SC (WIS) -
Two Sumter County residents have been charged with operating a gaming house in the county following a 4-month illegal gambling investigation.
According to the Sheriff's Office, 56-year-old Janet Lynn Jones and 27-year-old Caleb Daniel Jones have been arrested in connection with the investigation.
Investigators say they executed a search warrant at a home on Carter Road on Aug. 22 and located five illegal video poker machines, over $6,000 in cash, an Uzi, a 20-gauge shotgun, alcohol, and cigarettes.
Janet Jones was also charged with unlawful storage of liquor.
According to Sheriff Anthony Dennis, any gambling machines located in the county will be destroyed if deemed illegal in a court of law.
One other person at the scene, 58-year-old Virginia McIntosh, was charged with gambling.
Officials say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests could be coming.
