COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -
A large tree fell onto two vehicles near the University of South Carolina Friday morning.
It happened near the intersection of Laurens Street and Pendleton Street.
The owner of one of the damaged vehicles says he heard a tree creaking around 7 a.m. He looked outside just in time to see the tree fall right on top of his Toyota 4Runner.
The tree also landed on a Volkswagen sedan, causing severe damage.
According to the witness, there were no strong winds in the area at the time of the incident. He believes recent rains may have softened the ground around the tree.
