COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -
A second suspect in a May kidnapping and armed robbery case has been arrested, according to the Columbia Police Department.
Donald Javonta Smith, 21, has been charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, first degree burglary, and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony.
CPD says Smith was spotted on Fairfield Road Wednesday night. Smith fled the scene, and officers went to look for him around the Hollywood Hills neighborhood.
It didn't take long for Smith to show up again. While officers talked to one homeowner, officials say Smith fell through the homeowner's ceiling and onto the floor below. Apparently, police say Smith had been hiding in that home's attic.
Smith, an unidentified suspect, and 19-year-old John Brandon Foster are accused of breaking into an elderly couple's home on Koon Rood and stealing several items while holding them at gunpoint.
Smith was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center to await a bond hearing.
